Statistics show that more than 70% of all Americans do not have any sort of estate planning. This is why the Baptist Foundation of Colorado (BFC) decided in 2009 to help our churches bring awareness to the members for the need to define how they want their assets to be distributed upon their death. Many have given to their churches for years, but without a directive their assets will be determined by others. Developing an estate plan, even a simple will, can be the largest single act of financial stewardship a Christian makes in life.

The Foundation Board and staff worked to develop some “layman friendly” estate planning tools which can enable you to protect your family and be a wise steward of what God has entrusted to you.

Here are some tools you can use:

If you are ready to start your estate planning process, visit MyLegacyofFaith and follow the estate planner tutorial/data gathering process. All information is confidential and you will not be asked for social security numbers or bank account information. When you have completed your Plan, you should print it for your records.

If you would like additional information or assistance, you may submit your Plan to BFC for further assistance. Please be assured your confidentiality will be maintained with the BFC. If you need an attorney to finalize your estate plan (at a discount), please give us a call at 303.771.2480 ext. 224.

BFC offers a short and concise Estate Planning Seminar which has been used to generate interest and challenge people to create their estate plan. If you are interest in knowing more about this one-hour Estate Planning Seminar or you would like to host one in your church or community as at least 7 other churches have, please contact Doug Lohrey at 303.771.2480, ext. 224.
